ACCOMMODATION AND LOCATION Fully detached nicely restored house dating from 1821. The house is in a very peaceful setting and has a large plot of land. Around the house there is a lovely view over the valley of the Toulourenc river and the surrounding mountains, over Brantes village, but above all northwards over the famous Mont Ventoux. The house is in a quiet hamlet, a couple of kilometres south of the lovely centuries old village of Brantes. In Brantes there are some lovely old streets and an auberge. You can go to Savoillan (4 km) for your groceries, but definitely to Montbrun les Bains (10 km). Brantes is located in the superb valley of the Toulourenc river (you will find it on the map between Vaison la Romaine and Montbrun, just north of Mont Ventoux). There are lots of possibilities for walking and cycling (particularly for the more adventurous holidaymakers). The hamlet is on the hiking trail GR 9 that takes you to Mont Ventoux. As stated before, here you are at the foot of the highest mountain in Provence, Mont Ventoux (1,909 m high) well known from the Tour de France and visited all year round by devotees of cycling that want the honour of reaching the top of this legendary peak. There are innumerable possibilities for discovering Provence: you can drive to Sisteron through the lovely village of Montbrun and the Jabron valley; to the south there is the splendid Luberon mountain range with numerous incomparably beautiful villages; to the west there are the attractive towns of Carpentras, Orange and Avignon as well as the villages of Vaison la Romaine, Mollans sur Ouvèze and Malaucène. Swimming pool: Sault (20 km). It is also possible to swim in the Toulourenc river at Saint Léger du Ventoux (5 km). Possibilities for climbing (8 km). Wellness center with thermal pool, sauna/hammam, jacuzzi etc. (10 km). THE MONT VENTOUX: The Mont Ventoux is one of the mountains in France that appeals most to the cyclist’s imagination. This is caused by its position in the Provence, without surrounding high mountains, and by its altitude of 1.900 m and the length of the climb (21 km). The most fascinating and special aspect of the Mont Ventoux is the higher part of the mountain, which looks like a moon landscape with the wind (the Mistral) blowing around freely. These factors plus the beautiful views around and on the mountain itself inspire thousands of cyclists every year, to take up the challenge of climbing the Mont Ventoux from one of the three sides.
