ACCOMMODATION AND LOCATION House with private pool close to the centre of the lovely town of Arles. The house is only ten minutes by foot from the splendid town centre with winding streets and alleys full of pretty little squares with restaurants and terraces. Arles is on the UNESCO world heritage list and is well worth seeing. Here you will find many remnants of the Roman era, such as the arena in the amphitheatre that is still in use today. In addition the town is very famous for Vincent van Gogh who stayed in the town to absorb the Provençal light in his paintings. Arles is situated in a lovely area amidst Les Alpilles mountain range where there are superb walks and also close to the famous Camargue. Nearby are the lovely places: Les Baux de Provence, Fontvieille, Maussanne and St Remy de Provence (with its attractive old town centre and many monuments from the Roman era). You can also take trips to the lovely towns of Avignon, Nîmes and Marseilles. For those who want the sea, there are places such as Le Grau du Roi or Saintes Maries de la Mer (half an hour's drive) The beautiful abbey of Montmajour is also worth a visit.
