ACCOMMODATION AND LOCATION This modern, detached chalet is situated in Le Tholy in the Vosges, northeast of France. The chalet was built in 2007 and is equipped with all amenities like underfloor heating and big screen TV with satellite reception. The furnishing is very modern and the rooms are quite spacious. There is a lovely view from the garden onto the adjacent meadow and hills in the distance. On the adjacent property there is a similar chalet belonging to the same owner. The two chalets may be rented together for groups of up to 18 people. The chalet is within easy reach of the centre of Le Tholy (approximately 1 km) where you will find anything you might need. At 10 km from the chalet in Gérardmer, you’ll find a scenic lake, catering for all forms of recreation. To the east of Gérardmer you’ll find the well-known Vosges passes. This area is ideal for cyclists who are not afraid of steep slopes and for hikers who want to get close to nature on the many indicated routes. Wine connoisseurs may also enjoy the well-known route des vins, which goes along all the well-known towns and wine farms at the eastern side of the mountains. You could even visit the cities of Colmar, as well as Strasbourg and Freiburg in Germany. THE COLS OF THE VOSGES In the Vosges the sporting cyclist can enjoy him/herself and test his or her form. Within a small area east of Gérardmer you will find a number of beautiful and famous cols, like the Col de la Schlucht (17 km long, 1.100 m high), the Markstein (20 km long, 1.200 m high), the Petit Ballon (12 km long, 1.150 m high) and the Grand Ballon (13 km long, 1.350 m high). The beautiful, green landscapes and the beautiful views together with the smooth, not very steep cols cause this area to be a wonderful challenge for every sporting cyclist.
