ACCOMMODATION AND LOCATION Lovely typical chalet with a superb view over the mountains and the valley, located in the village of La Chal, part of the commune of Saint Jean d'Arves. The chalet is situated on the outskirts of the village and is attached to a restaurant. It is 400 metres from the ski area at an altitude of 1575 metres. The ski area of St Jean d'Arves - Le Corbier comprise about 90 km of pistes. There is also a link to the extensive ski area of Sybelles with its 310 km of pistes. In the winter and in July and August there is a grocery and bakery within 200 metres; for more shops you have to go to the ski resort of Saint Sorlin d'Arves 3.5 km away. For a big supermarket you need to go to the lovely town of Saint Jean de Maurienne about a 25 km trip. There is a lot to do and lots to visit in the area: the beautiful mountain lake near the Col du Glandon and afterwards you pass along a lovely road to Bourg d'Oisans and the Alpe d'Huez; for those who love driving, a really lovely day's drive brings you to the Val d'Isère through attractive villages such as Bessans and particularly Bonneval sur Arc, coming back via Bourg St Maurice and Albertville; even a trip to the splendid city of Briançon is highly recommended. You can also go for some unbelievably lovely walks here, especially to the Col d'Arves or to the waterfall on the river Arvette. For athletic cycling enthusiasts there is also a lot to look forward to: the Col de Croix de Fer (2067 m) and the Col du Glandon are not far. A little further away (not more than an hour by car) there is also the famous Col du Galibier, and, of course, the Alpe d'Huez.
